The Nigeria Football Federation has restated its plan to rebuild Nigerian football even as the Super Eagles miss out on a second Africa Cup of Nations from the last three.
With all the country’s male age grade teams having major tournaments in 2015, the NFF say they hope to rebuild Nigeria’s football
by paying more attention to ‘developmental’ football in the country in
the next year and harnessing talents that will go on to represent the Super Eagles in the nearest future.
“We have the U17, the U20, and the U23 all in camp and they are all preparing for major competitions next year and we must start focusing on those teams because we have to be more involved in developmental projects,” NFF executive committee member Emeka Inyama told SL10.ng.
“We must develop players for the Super
Eagles and we must start with these teams. We cannot talk about the
Super Eagles now because we have maybe one year or more to rebuild and
we must rebuild.”
